- Ukdiche modak- Hello guys welcome to my blog……! today I am sharing with all of you one of the best traditional sweet recipe which holds a special place in every marathi house with lots of emotions and also it considered lord ganesha’s fav sweet- Ukdiche Modak. If you are Modak lover this famous spot is for you the food points I have visited in Pune. I genuinely recommend you to must try also I am sharing here my personal experience.
Kuber snacks – Narayan peth, pune. – Ukdiche modak.

Ukidiche modak : from kuber snacks shop located in Pune you should visit for this mouthwatering Maharashtrian dish. my personal experience is about this dish was too much underrated… ! It is of the the devotional recipe for all Maharashtrian here I am sharing recipe of this famous dish and it is also favourite food of lord Ganesh ji; so must try this recipe at home, and if you are in Pune then must try this Modak from kuber snacks.
Ukdiche modak means steamed dumpling with filling of jaggery and coconut crush and it serves with lovely droplets of fresh ghee . In Maharashtrian culture Ukdiche modak have a different demand because it is favourite food of lord Ganesh therefore modak mostly made on Ganesh Chaturthi but u must try this lovely recipe.
Recipe : Ukdiche Modak (steamed Modak)
Ingredients : Rice floor , Jaggery , Coconut crush , Cardamom, kesar , ghee, water
serving – 8-10 modak
prep time – 20 min
cook time – 30 min
Ingredients with measurement
For the outter cover :-
Ingredients 1 cup rice flour
1 cup jaggery
1 cup approximately fresh coconut (grated)
2 tbsp cashew nuts
2 tbsp almonds
2 tbsp pistachios
1/3 tsp cardamom powder(elichi )
2 tsp ghee
1/2 tsp nutmeg powder. ( jaiphal )
Other Ingredients ••••
8-10 saffron strands (optional) 2 tbsp milk (optional)
procedure :-
- First of all, grate fresh coconut and chop all the dry fruits.
- Heat 1/2 teaspoon ghee in a pan, add grated coconut and stir
- Now add jaggery/jaggery powder and mix it well. Now mix all the dry fruits as well one the low flame.
- When the mixture thickens, turn off the heat and stir in the green cardamom powder and nutmeg powder. Let the mixture cool.
- Now put a little more than 2 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of desi ghee in the pan and let it boil perfectly . After it boils well, add rice flour little by little.
- Now Mix the rice flour well by stirring it continuously and then turn off the gas. Now cover it and keep it for 10-15 minutes so that it gets steamed properly.
- Once the dough has cooled, knead it well to make it soft. Prepare saffron water to decorate the modaks; this step is optional. Now, grease the modak mold with ghee and add the rice flour.make sure rice floor must be quite warm this will help in better result for more perfection.
- Now spread the rice flour all around the modak and smartly mould by pressing it with your thumb, then put the coconut and jaggery mixture in the middle and then apply some flour on top and stick it well.
- now wisely put in steamer and keep it securely and boil it for 20 mins with medium flame keep remind that water in is in proper quantity
- And finally you can enjoy your steamed modak with serving of keshar for decoration and ghee droplets over it.
